Intercultural Training for Placements (Host Families) for a new era of Cultural Exchange
Successful cultural exchange is the true art of encounter! Welcoming someone into your home while also being welcomed into the life of another person can be one of the greatest experiences of affection and transformation in your life - and theirs. In this course, you will discover new and revolutionary tools for understanding intercultural encounters, about what can happen to you and to the exchange student who will arrive. How your attitude and perception of the world can be a risk or success factor for your relationships. Understand what the entry of a foreigner into your life means, both in terms of gains and in terms of difficulties that may arise. Discover how they feel affected by your presence and the enormous importance that you and your family will have in this person's life, transforming them and bringing memories for life. You will also learn how to create a healthier and more sustainable relationship throughout the journey with your exchange student based on understanding the psyche of each people (including yours) and how these differences affect you and your entire family. And the best part: you will be surprised by concepts that you have never heard of but that will bring you a deep understanding and valuable insights about yourself, about life and about this beautiful art of encounter that will lead to the personal development of everyone involved.
This training is designed for you — how to benefit from these rich exchanges and create lasting relationships, bringing peace of mind and confidence to deal with what lies ahead. It will help make this experience something valuable for you and your family, and in the end, you will all grow in compassion and complicity for each other. Hosting an exchange student in your home is much more than offering a room – it is opening the doors to your intimacy, your values, your way of life, your heart. The objective of the course is to help you discover that hosting an exchange student can be a rewarding and revolutionary experience in your life and that of your family, if well managed and understood. All elements benefit in terms of marriage, parenthood, and family unity. And how can we make this coexistence more harmonious and enriching for everyone? Our training was created especially for families like yours, who want to provide a welcoming experience without giving up balance at home or, better yet, experiencing small imbalances that will take you to another level of relationship, more mature, more sensitive, more empathetic.
Here, you will learn how to deal with cultural differences, adjust expectations and avoid the most common challenges in living with differences. Using Intercultural Sciences (Intercultural Psychology & Intercultural Education), we offer practical tools to improve communication, prevent conflicts and ensure that the coexistence is positive and unforgettable – both for you and for the exchange student. Because hosting is more than just welcoming, it is also knowing how to be well received by those who arrive.

- Member of the Educational Advisory Council at AFS International that promotes the Training for Trainers in countries like Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Costa Rica (2006-2012)
- Long and short term experiences abroad in Spain (Madrid), Italy (Rome) and Belgium (Louvain-la-Neuve) (1990-1996), United States (2008), France (2023) and Canada (2012, 2017, 2024, 2025)
